Promotion: Matingwe Lodge - for kings to campers

WELGEVONDEN - River Hotels has introduced its newest family member - Matingwe Lodge and Private Game Reserve.  Matingwe lies adjacent to the Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Southwest Waterberg region - vast, peaceful and startlingly beautiful.
The lodge was closed for five years prior to its acquisition. After a year of renovations, Matingwe is now a proudly four-star game lodge.  Owner and CEO of River Hotels, Andre Roebert, went to great lengths to restore the lodge to its former beauty.
Sable, giraffe, zebra, nyala, blesbuck, waterbuck and wildebees have been introduced to the reserve, where they roam free and can be admired from a close distance, providing travellers with a true Bushveld experience.
Further plans include a sable breeding programme with a pure species bloodline. The project will be headed by Matingwe Lodge management, Mike and Liza McColl. Liza is a qualified chef, and together with her game ranger husband, Mike, they have previously managed a number of lodges in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve over the last seven years.
At Matingwe, anyone from king to camper can experience wildlife in splendid luxury.  Accommodation options vary from luxury rooms, to a self-catering unit and camp site. 
Lodge rooms are spacious and decorated to suit the African feel. All rooms are en-suite and come equipped with air-conditioning, mini bar and a tea and coffee station. The two-bedroom self-catering unit is perfect for a family - open plan, with a fully-equipped kitchen, a lounge with sleeper couch and outside braai facilities.
The camp site consists of 10 canvas safari tents and eight camp sites, also suitable for caravans.
Communal camp site facilities include ablutions, a kitchen and laundry, and an African boma next to the river.
Inside the homely lodge you will find a restaurant and a cosy lounge with a crackling fireplace - perfect for Winter evenings.  For outdoor enthusiasts there are plenty bushveld activities - Big 5 game drives, fishing, nature walks, star gazing, mountain bike rides, and much more. A swimming pool and lapa promise for fun Summer days together with family and friends.
Matingwe also caters for corporate events and private functions, and provides the most spectacular backdrop for a Bushveld wedding.
