The continued poor management of Limpopo’s public administration is an affront to our people who depend on public services.
Our Constitution provides that “public administration must be governed by democratic values and principles enshrined in the Constitution”, including but not limited to the following:
a) A high standard of professional ethics must be promoted and maintained
b) Efficient, economic and effective use of resources must be promoted.
Today, as we stand, the good name and reputation of our province is tarnished because of the scourge of corruption, irregular awarding of tenders and jobs for pals amongst others. Our public service is collapsing and fails to live up to the Constitution.
As we gather here today we have the following demands:
We demand clean governance in all government departments, municipalities and parastatals.
We demand clean and efficient hospitals
We demand clean financial management with no wasteful and irregular expenditures.
Our education is in tatters; we therefore demand clean and professionally managed schools.
We demand a complete halt on expensive cars for MECs, no to exorbitant parties, and definitely no to extravagant overseas trips.
We demand an open and transparent tender awarding system.
We demand that all employees; in all levels of government; be appointed on the basis of Fit-for-Purpose and that cadre deployment and jobs for pals be abandoned.
We demand that all our people have access to clean and drinkable water.
We demand that our road infrastructure be repaired and properly maintained.
