Kefentse Sekgala (18) last week became the first student from the Waterberg district to benefit from the department of health and social development bursary scheme. She left for Cuba last week where she will be studying for her PHD over the next six years.
As a token of appreciation for the honour she brings to Mokopane and her hard work, the Mogalakwena municipality last week presented her with a brand new luggage set and some toiletries for her journey.
Kefentse matriculated from Nkube High school in Lyden last year. The all expenses paid bursary is awarded only to students with exceptional academic track records.
The mayor and municipal manager congratulated her on her achievement and warned her that the road ahead would not be easy. While Cuba is recognised for its high standards in primary health care, Kefetse will have to learn to speak Spanish as it is the official teaching language there.
