Northern News contributor and International bass fishing pro, Christie Thomas was invited to join a group of school kids on a school outing to Mokolo dam last week.
She was asked to teach them the basics of bass fishing and thanks to her generous sponsors, she managed to hand them each a basic starter pack and taught them the ABC of rigging lures, tying knots and some basic fishing techniques.
She was assisted by skippers - Henri Franck and Jacques vd Walt. George Kriel caught the heaviest fish for the day - 1.03kg and received a hefty starter pack, filled with bass fishing essentials such as Silver Thread fluorocarbon, Bomber and XCalibur crankbaits, Booyah jigs, YUM plastics, Excalibur terminal tackle and a beautiful t-shirt as reward.
