Horror crash on the N1

Five people died and two were seriously injured in a collision on the N1 just north of Mokopane, after the Zebediela toll plaza on Sunday. The driver of a Toyota Corolla carrying six passengers, heading towards Mokopane, apparently lost control of his car when a tyre blew-out. The Corolla collided with another vehicle heading in the opposite direction.
Two men (29 and 32), a woman (39) and the two small children (3 months and 1 year 6 months old) died on the scene. Both drivers sustained serious injuries, one was taken to Mokopane Hospital and the other one to Polokwane Provincial Hospital for medical treatment. A case of culpable homicide was opened and further investigations are pending.
