“They say you shouldn’t judge a person until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes. I believe this with all my heart.”
It is Phillip Ramphisa, an author from Mokopane sharing his passion for people with Northern News reporter, Martie Pretorius before his first book, 'Young, wise and kick-s' hit the shelves.
Ramphisa is a reputable motivational speaker and a man who plans to make a living by doing what he loves.
His main goal in life is to reach young people and to influence them in changing their lives into something extraordinary.
He grew upwithout parents.
"Saying my life was difficult is an understatement.” says Ramphisa who can relate to many troubled youngsters who he hopes to reach with his testimony.
He talks to youngsters from all backgrounds regardless of their race or financial status and meets many young people who are facing immense challenges such as drug addiction, teenage pregnancies and alcohol abuse.
He says absent parents and being bullied just form part of life for many troubled youths. "Living in times of crime and poverty makes it even more difficult being young” he adds.
Ramphisa says he can’t judge kids going through difficulties in their lives because he hasn’t walked a mile in their shoes. Neither does Ramphisa pretend to know everything or give youngsters sollutions to all their problems.
He talks about his own experiences as a kid and how he overcame his problems and troubles. He also talks about the rewards that awaited him in succeeding in life.
Through his story, he shows young people that at the end of those long, hard miles, there can be happiness, fulfillment, even riches.
