STEILLOOP – Thousands of shoppers attended the grand opening of the new Steilloop Shopping Centre, located 100km north of Mokopane on the N11 last year. The shopping centre recently gave back to the community after inviting schools in the area to take part in a colouring competition.

The 12 800m² shopping centre, which belongs to the GMI Property Group,  is expected to cater to 21 000 households in its catchment area. Key tenants include Shoprite, KFC, Cashbuild, Jet, Ackermans and OK Furtniture among others.

A whopping 120 entries was received from Ditlou Primary School and Reabilwe Primary School. The shopping centre decided to reward the participating schools with R1000 each and invited them to a handover at the centre recently.

MD Gerard Dros handed over the cheques to representatives from the two schools recently, who in turn treated the shopping centre's management and fellow shoppers to a little mini-concert. The little one's danced and performed to show their appreciation!

Individual winners received gift bags containing stationary, face paint and glitter pens.

Steilloop's Moya Fourie says that the centre is busy planning its next competition which will continue to show its ongoing commitment to social responsibility in the area.
