Polokwane — The Limpopo Department of Roads and Transport will adopt a zero tolerance approach to ensure road safety across the province this festive season. Col. Lucas Mogwaneng from Mokopane was named Cluster Commander of the Year at the South African Police Service’s first Limpopo Prestige Awards presented at the Peter Mokaba Executive Lounge Saturday Evening. The Mokopane Cluster was also crowned as the top performing cluster in Limpopo. The cluster is made up of the seven police stations of Mokopane, Mahwelereng, Allenskraal, Gilead, Tin Mines, Zebediela and Magatle.

Commendable police work and information given by the public led to the arrest of five suspects this week in connection with the armed robbery and hijacking at the Sasol garage in Onverwacht last Monday. The suspects appeared in the Lephalale Magistrates court on Monday, but the case was postponed untill 10 December.

Stabbed 15 times

A 16 year old girl was stabbed 15 times by her boyfriend in Marapong on Sunday evening. The victim was taken to Ellisras Hospital and discharged a few days later. The suspect was arrested and appeared in the Lephalale Magistrates court this week on charges of attempted murder. The motive for the attack is still not clear.
