MODIMOLLE – Positive attitudes and strong bodies played an important role in securing good scores for the gymnasts from the Marshall Gymnastics Academy (MGA) at last weekend’s Ecarte Invitational Gymnastics competition in Modimolle.
Level 1 to 3 gymnasts from MGA travelled to Ecarte last Saturday to compete against 10 other clubs from Gauteng and Limpopo. This was the first competition of the season and offered the young gymnasts the opportunity to prepare themselves for the upcoming competition season.
In women’s artistic gymnastics (WAG) level 2, Miqayla Venter won first place overall (gold average), while Jennezee Vermeulen took home second place (gold average) in their age groups. The level 3 girls performed well with Chené Goosen achieving a silver average while Lungile Mahlangu and Jessica Essakow both finished with a bronze average.
In the men’s artistic gymnastics (MAG), the boys held their own. Keanu Potgieter and Basson Wolmarans achieved a silver average, while Pero Boshoff, Gerard Kruger, Pieter Harmse and Keo Mathosa finished with a bronze average.
The level 2 boys all finished with a bronze average, they are Ruan Goosen, Amicus de Beer, Tyron Jordaan and Hannes Raats.
