MOKOPANE – On Monday, 21 November, Marshall Gymnastic Academy (MGA) honoured nearly 80 gymnasts in all disciplines during its annual prize giving ceremony at the RET Centre.
While every gymnast received a certificate, MGA also honoured those gymnasts who excelled in their levels.
In women’s artistic gymnastics (WAG) level 1 Maya Boshoff won best gymnast, while Mia Botha took the trophy for best progress. Jennezee Vermeulen was honoured for best progress in level 3. In level 4, Lesedi Mashishi was best gymnast and Jessica Essakow was awarded best progress. Lize Janse van Rensburg was the best level 5 gymnast.
In the men’s artistic gymnastics (MAG), Jaden Enslin was the best level 1 gymnast and Rudolf Britz was awarded the trophy for best progress. In level 2, the top gymnast was Keanu Potgieter and Basson Wolmarans won best progress. In level 3, Hannes Raats was awarded best progress. In level 5, best progress went to Marnus Ruytenberg and Jan van der Baan won best gymnast. In the senior section, best gymnast was Luan du Plessis, while best progress went to Johan Strauss. The best tumbling gymnast was Albert Brits and the top Gymnaestrada gymnast was Christine Lee.
Every year the club hands out some trophies to motivate the gymnasts. This year the ‘Flash’ award for fastest gymnast went toe Daniël van Wyk, best focus went to Pero Boshoff, best team player was Lungile Mahlangu and the heart of gold award went to Jone Conradie. The gymnasts with the best attitude was Melody Raats, Juan van Staden and Leigh van Staden.
