The annual charity golf day, held in honour of the young Ryan Burchell, who died of cancer at the age of six years, will take place this year at the Soutpansberg Golf Club on 11 November. The aim is to raise funds to assist local children who cannot afford medical assistance.
“This year, we have assisted in severe cases of malaria, a cleft palate, and meningitis and provided medications and some entertainment in the form of art supplies,” said organiser Charlotte Burchell.
The format of the day’s play is a fourball-alliance scramble drive (with two scores to count), and the entry cost is R2,800 per team. The entry fee includes a dinner ticket for the player and their spouse. Many prizes can be won, including the chance to win a car for the last hole-in-one. An auction will also take place. Tee or green sponsorships start at R1,500. A Section 18 certificate can be issued for donations exceeding R10,000.
