After the very successful opening of Steilloop Shopping centre in November 2016, GMI Property Group started the construction of the Tibani Shopping Centre in October 2017, to open in August 2018. Located 70km north of Mokopane and 60km West of Seshego at the corner of the D19 and R551. This convenience centre will service 94 000 people from 69 villages in and aound Tibani.
At 12 000m2, the centre will consist of 48 shops, each carefully considered and selected to fulfil specific customer requirements. Anchor tenants include Shoprite and Cashbuild with a fashion component of Pep, Ackermans, Tekkie Town and Jet.
A good mix of furniture and financial services have also committed to the centre. KFC, Debonairs and The Original Fish and Chips Co. give a good variety of food options for customers. A filling station will be developed at the entrance to complete the full offering.
Glass and wooden panels form an integral part of the contemporary architecture which result in ample natural light within the mall area.
A feature at the food court will incorporate an outdoor seating area. The centre will create a friendly, modern, safe environment for the community to meet and spend their time with friends and family while shopping.
"It is central to GMI Property Group's development philosophy that this R150 million project must be beneficial to rural and local communities, not only by bringing quality shopping to their doorstep, but also to contribute to job creation in the communities we serve," says MD of GMI, Gerald Dros.
The significant growth potential of this develoment is underscored by the Department of Housing's project to develop 500 residential stands on the property adjoining the centre. This would result in the expansion of Tibani Shopping Centre in the future.
