Is Angie lying about textbooks?

A schools-monitoring programme by the DA in Limpopo this week revealed more cases of non-delivery of textbooks in rural schools.
This contradicts Minister Angie Motshekga’s claim that 98% of textbooks have already been delivered.
On Tuesday the DA made phone calls to a number of rural schools to establish whether they had received all textbooks for 2013. Nare Mohlalerwa Primary School in Ga-Sebotse reported that it has not received any Grade R stationery or workbooks, no Grade 5 mathematics textbooks, no Grade 4 mathematics textbooks and no Grade 7 workbooks. Other schools also waiting for books include Sego High School, Noko High, Nokanantwane High, Bahlaloga Secondary School, Burgwal Secondary School, Moshidi Secondary and Ngakana Secondary. “This could just be the tip of the iceberg as a small sample size of schools were called,” the DA said in a press release.
Limpopo education spokesperson, Pat Kgomo, declined to comment on the DA’s statement saying he hasn’t had a look at it yet. Northern News sent him a copy, but at the time of going to print he hadn’t responded.
