LEPHALALE - A vehicle transporting employees of Molalatau Security was involved in an accident on Nelson Mandela avenue last Wednesday evening. The vehicle was on its way to Marapong when it was hit from behind by a vehicle swerving to avoid a head-on collision.
According to Andries Bester of Molalatau Security, the accident was caused by two vehicles standing at the red traffic light at the Rupert street crossing, heading towards Onverwacht. When the traffic light turned green the drivers raced to see who would be in front when the two lanes merge. One of the vehicles was pushed into the oncoming traffic, it was then that a third motorist swerved out to prevent a head on collision and subsequently struck the back of the MS vehicle. “The impact of the crash caused our vehicle to overturn crushing the canopy and throwing the occupants out of the vehicle,” Bester explained.
On the scene three employees were diagnosed with serious chest, back, neck and head injuries.
