Mayor in hospital after crash

Mokopane mayor, Andries Mashamaite was still in hospital at the Polokwane Medi-Clinic after he was in a car accident in the early hours of Sunday Morning.
Mashamaite was driving his own car and not his official municipal vehicle at the time of the accident. According to municipal manager, William Kekana, he was on his way home from Pretoria when the accident happened.
On Tuesday Kekana said the Mayor only suffered minor injuries, but that doctors were keeping him in hospital to ensure he didn’t suffer any internal injuries.
At the time of going to print it wasn’t clear exactly who or what caused the accident, a source close to the municipality simply confirmed that friends of the mayor took him to Voortrekker hospital in Mokopane from where he was later transferred to Polokwane.
