It is estimated that cancer affects 1 out of 4 people. In support of those who have been diagnosed with the dreaded disease, Cansa Lephalale, will host their annual Relay for Life on 16 and 17 August from 17:00 to 06:00 at the Mogol Club.
As a community-owned, volunteer-driven event, Relay For Life brings together individuals, companies, schools, churches and any other institution that would like to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Relay for Life is a moving celebration of cancer survivorship. It gives community members the opportunity to celebrate with cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer as well as raise funds for research and cancer education.
Team members pay a registration fee of R100 per person which includes all activities at the event. Members then take turns walking or running around the track so that the team has at least one member on the track the entire time of the event. Activities during the event include listening to music, camping out, participating in a variety of fun family activities as well as cancer awareness activities.
For more information on how to register, please call Jan Pieterse at 0829259904 or Riana Bronkhorst at 0826635719.
