Bronkhorst who started teaching at the school in 1994 and became the principle in 2008, will be remembered for his dedication to the school and its learners. “The school was his life and he was involved in every aspect of school life,” Sonja Jordaan, a teacher and hostel manager, told

“This is a very difficult time for our school, we are still in shock,” she added. Messages from former learners on the school’s Facebook page showed the influence he had on so many lives. Kamogelo Tshoane wrote: He taught us several aspects of life we have never imagined existed and made many of us better people than we ever hoped to be. We pray that his beloved family will find their way through this tragic time. Kabelo Mpete: It’s still so hard to accept that he left us. I came to Marken Primary School in 1998 doing grade 1. Mr Bronkhorst was strict, but he taught us the way we should treat life he taught me never to give up in terms of athletics and life. He’s words still remain with me. May his soul rest in peace.
