The Limpopo Rehab Centre (LRC), a new facility that hopes to address the escalating rate of drug dependency and abuse in Mokopane and the rest of the province was launched at the Mokopane Lodge, on Friday.
The centre stems from the efforts of two local businessmen, Samuel Khumalo and Mollen Rikhotso who are also the owners of Mokopane Lodge.
The centre will offer various services to addicts ranging from alcohol and drug prevention programmes; educational programmes; sport activities; job and school placement programmes for recovered individuals and counselling in partnership with government and private stakeholders.
“There is currently no rehab centre in Limpopo that offers all these services to addicts,” said Angela Salter from the South African National Council for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
“I will be working closely with the centre and addicts in-order to ensure a drug free community and teach patients how to re-adapt back into the community after rehab,” said Frans Mola, social worker and substance abuse coordinator.
