Residents of Mokopane this week phoned Northern News offices to enquire about workers cleaning and irrigating lawns at the Municipal swimming pool which has been closed for the last couple of years.
On Tuesday Mogalakwena municipality spokesperson, Malesela Selokela, confirmed that the swimming pool will be opened to the public next month.
When Northern News reported on the community’s discontent with having a public pool, but not being able to utilise it two years ago, the municipality indicated that some of the maintenance equipment first needed to be upgraded.
Last year the municipality said the new equipment was in place, but that no lifeguards had been appointed yet and therefore the pool remained closed for another year.
Selokela this week said life savers and a pool superintendent had already been appointed and that the public can look forward to enjoying their swimming pool this summer.
