Instructions has been given to to Verveen Attorneys by Bob Naidoo (in his capacity as the municipal manager of Lephalale) to act on his behalf in filing a defamation lawsuit against the Lephalale Business Forum (LBF) under the chairmanship of Justice Ledwaba for the amount of R350 000.
This follows several widely distributed open letters written by Ledwaba, accusing Naidoo of corruption. In their letter to Ledwaba the attorneys state: “The purpose of the [open] letters are to defame our client and is further meant to attack his dignity.”
The letter also states that Naidoo is prepared to withhold legal proceedings if Ledwaba and the LBF’s members offer an unconditional public written apology to Naidoo. To date no such an apology has been made.
Naidoo told Northern News that he has no further comment but to say that the legal process must now take its course. He has again invited anyone with proof of misconduct by any municipal official to please come forward with the evidence and contact the relevant authorities.
