Northern News has received numerous complaints from the community asking why they never find
police members to report their grievances to when they go to the satellite office in Marapong. The Marapong satellite office does not have a telephone number for the community to call in if they want to report a crime.
Northern News went to the office in Marapong and found that there was no one on call. Cluster commander, Col. Lammy Tsebe, said the issue of the
satellite office in Marapong is complex, but they have taken the issue to the office of the premier. There are plans to build a super station in Marapong.
“It will take some time but the premier’s office said that they will speed up the process as this town is growing rapidly,” said Tsebe.
Meanwhile the community is urged to phone the emergency centre number 086 010 2853 and they will get in touch with the police and help will be on the way.
Tsebe said the station in town will be turned into a fully
operating satellite office once that super station is up and running. - Tebogo Tlhako (tebogo@noordnuus.co.za)
