Lephalale Municipality launched its first ward committee for the disabled on
Saturday at the civic centre. The committee will be assisting the council in disability matters in and around Lephalale, especially the villages, so the council can be aware of their (the disabled) needs. The committee will create a database to see who needs help with what and how the council/municipality can help.
Malebana Seanego, special projects coordinator at the Municipality, said that it was sad to see some of the elders who are disabled coming to the launch with crutches that looked worn, wheelchairs with torn seats and the blind people walking without canes.
The committee will also report to the council to find solutions through other companies that can help the disabled in addressing their needs. And also work with companies to see that they accommodate disabled people in their working environment.
