Mogalakwena municipal Councilors resolved that all councilors implicated in the KPMG report be removed from their positions as executive committee members during a special council meeting held last Thursday.
The removed councilors are TA Mashamaite (mayor), NS Montane (technical services chairperson), M Tlhaku (special projects chairperson), LD Langa (chief whip), MA Tsebe (community services chairperson) and MR Lebelo (electrical services chairperson). NV Mashamaite resigned from his position as councillor last week and therefore relinquished his position on the executive committee.
The council resolved that the removed councillors are replaced by RE Mothibi as the technical services chairperson, SG Ngobeni as community services chairperson, MM Moseamedi as electrical services chairperson, LD Ramasobana as special projects chairperson, MI Mogotlane as traffic and emergency services chairperson while MF Mabuela retained her position as planning and developmental services chairperson, TA Kgaphola also retained his position as the finance chairperson and ME Ramashala, traffic and emergency services chairperson moved to corporate services chairperson.
The council further resolved Malose William Mabuela be the Mayor of Mogalakwena Municipality and Clr PG Pila was chosen as the Chief Whip.
The council further resolved that all municipal property in the possession of the sacked exco members like laptops, cellphones and the mayor’s vehicle be returned to the municipality within 48 hours and that the security services which was rendered to Mashamaite and Langa’s homes respectively be stopped with immediate effect.
Shortly after this council meeting the newly elected chief whip reportedly survived an assassination attempt during which one of his guards were killed.
Mabuela the newly elected Mayor said he will strive to unite the council of Mogala-kwena Municipality. He further indicated that he wants to be accountable to the community of Mogalakwena. The council further resolved that all the money misused should be recovered from the councillors implicated in the KPMG report.
