Latin Rhythm is alive in Mokopane

The Mokopane Latin Rhythm Dance Academy hosted its first annual Limpopo Ballroom dance championships on 3 May on behalf of the Independent Dance Association of South Africa (IDA).
Dancers from across Limpopo were invited to participate. They we dressed to the  nines, make-up and hair was expertly done and they were ready to be danced, twirled, and jived to test their steps, rhythm, skill and showmanship. 
“I started Latin Rhythm in 2000 in Centurion and then moved the company to the UK for a few years, before moving back to South-Africa in 2006,” says Gert Moolman, owner of Latin Rhythm Dance Academy. “We invite everyone to join and aim to make ballroom dancing open to anyone.”
“It’s a joy, regardless of your age or size, ballroom is for everyone,” he says. “We teach any age and we train in Ballroom, Latin American and Social (like ‘Sokkie’ and the Two-Step) as well as wedding opening dances.”
