Petro Barnard, a Grade 11 student and head girl of Kings College in Lephalale, recently travelled to America to compete on behalf of the South African team of Accele-rated Christian Schools.
The meet was held in Pennsylvania, where 2 565
students from all over the world competed against each other in more than 150 categories. Petro excelled, and came back with a silver medal for her science collection; she was also in the top fifteen for her scrap booking and animal photo. The South African team spent an unforgettable three weeks in America.
A week in New York and Washington DC; a week at the International Student Convention and a week at
Disneyland. When asked if she would like to go again, she answers with a quick “When?”
A teacher at the school says about Petro: “She is not only an ambassador for Kings College, but also for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and we are very proud of the way she represented the school.”
