The Mogalakwena branch of the African National Congress has been struggling to function at full capacity since December when seven of its committee members were elected to the Waterberg structure. Accor-ding to party rules they had to abandon their positions on the Mogalakwena committee.
The sub-regional council was convened at Mahwelereng Community Hall last Sunday and seven members were elected to serve on the sub-regional committee. Malose Mabuela was elected as the chairperson with Esther Mothibi as deputy chairperson, Mbengwa Mabuela - deputy secretary, Tlou Kgaphola - treasurer while Grace Ngobeni, Daphney Ramasobana and David Kekana were elected as the additional members. Only three members, Joe Mojela-Secretary, Piet Pale and Elizabeth Ramashala remained from the previous committee elected prior to the December conference.
The new Council resolved that the Conference which was held at Oasis Lodge in December where the Regional leadership was elected was unconstitutional and illegitimate as the majority of branches in Mogalakwena did not participate. They emphasised that the secretary of the region is Andries Lekalakala not Victor Mashamaite.
