“It is very sad to loose a selfless leader like Madimetja Piet Pale who stood and campaigned against corruption in the municipality,” Mogalakwena Mayor, Malose Mabuela told mourners at Pale’s memorial service at the Mahwelereng stadium last week.
Pale was an able leader, he was the chairperson of African National Congress Rufus Seakamela Branch, he was a member Mogalakwena ANC sub-region and he was a member of Waterberg District Interim Core of the South African
Communist Party.
“It is clear that Pale was assassinated simply because he fought for the rights of Mogalakwena community at large,” said Mabuela.
He encouraged members of the community to come forward and share information which might relate to Pale’s murder. “We will work tirelessly in making sure that the
perpetrators are brought to book,” he said.
Mabuela highlighted the achievements of the Mogalakwena municipality attributing many of its successes to the positive involvement of Pale in municipal affairs. He cited three consecutive unqualified audit opinions and being rated the number one municipality in Limpopo by SALGA for good governance and financial stability as examples.
“To honour Pale it seems fit that Mahwelereng Stadium be renamed after the slain community activist, Madimetja Piet Pale Stadium,” Mabuela concluded.
