Women in sports at Mapela stadium

The Mahwelereng stakeholders forum, the national prosecuting authority and department of Education hosted an event last Wednesdays at Mapela Stadium for the women in sports against gender based violence. The day comprised of an awareness campaign as well as sports and recreation.
The stakeholders forum is made up of the SAPS, department of justice, social development, health youth centre, Red Cross, Love Life, SASSA, the TB unit, the Mapela traditional council, Eskom, Child Line (Limpopo) and interdenominational (Mahwelereng &  Moshate) groups.
The purpose of the event was to honour
women as heroes of the nation, break the silence against domestic violence and to educate women about the different services found at the  various departments, the SAPS and the community.
The department of justice in Limpopo mentioned that there has been a reestablishment of the sexual offence office at Mokerong. Mahwelereng SAPS emphasised that domestic violence does not only happen to women and children but also to men.
Later on, the games began: netball, ladies soccer, volleyball and tug of war. The Mapela community took on the Stakeholders Forum and had fun. The stadium was packed, the community was catered for. There were performances by the Mahwelereng local choir (the golden girls and boys) a group of pensioners, Ina Misaka dance groups and many more.
