Charity from the catwalk

A feather in the cap of Katryn Barwise is the Miss Humanity International 2014 title, which she won in during the international competition in Barbados on 24 August. Barwise is known in Mokopane for her modeling school, the Limpopo Beauty Modeling Academy, to which several primary and high school children belong. The Miss Humanity pageant focuses on humanitarian causes worldwide.
Barwise was crowned as Miss Humanity SA earlier this year and supports the charities that advocate against child labour, HIV/AIDS discrimination, abuse, genocide, sexual exploitation, human trafficking, hunger and poverty.
Barwise hosted various events as part of her preparation for Miss Humanity International and this included a free youth developmental fashion show in Mokopane earlier this year, a beauty pageant at The Crossing mall in July that also saw some donations to the Centre of Hope in Mokopane in a bid to relieve poverty. The canned food was donated by the participants in the pageant.
