The Lephalale Police Station was notified of a shoe seen at the Mogol river on Saturday that matched a shoe of a person that was reported missing last Thursday.
The K9 dog unit was dispatched to the scene and the search began for the women who was reported missing.
Not long after the search started, they found a decomposed and burnt body of a woman in the reeds.
“The body had clearly been lying there for some time,” said warrant officer Frans
Makoena of the Lephalale police.
The corpse was identified as Diane Mmaphuti Maria, a housekeeper at a lodge, on the opposite side of the river from where her body was found.
A friend of the woman's husband has been arrested in connection with her death.
A case of murder is being investigated by the Lephalale police.
