In an ideal world all children would be able to enjoy a safe, happy and healthy childhood. However, for some children this is an elusive dream.Often coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, the children not only have to cope with ill health challenges, but also a lack of funds which impedes access to effective health care. To cope with these challenges, Waterberg TVET College decided to lend a helping hand to the needy.
Jan Mabitsi, a lecturer at the college took his lear-ners to Zamokuhle Day-Care Centre, where they planted spinach. He also used his spare time to make sure that the spinach is well looked after.
“These people need to be taken care of and this project will give them something to eat and earn some money for running the Centre” said Mabitsi.
Zamokuhle Day-Care Centre is a home for 35 physically challenged children situated in Moshate, Mokopane. The centre was started in 2001 by Nomangisi Mahlangu, who is also disabled.
The spinach is sold at the Centre. For more information contact Nomangisi Maria Mahlangu on 072 294 2073. - Itumeleng Lekganyane
