October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. It is time to sit back, take stock and reconsider your health – this was the idea behind a special ladies’ tea function at the Service Centre for the Elderly to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation.
The ladies’ tea saw women (and a few men) from the area come together and talk about everything from the statistics, early detection to celebrating the survivors among us.
Mokopane specialist radiologist, Dr. Kulsum Jhetam answered questions about breast cancer. “Check yourself once a month with a breast self-examination and go for a mammogram once in two years if you are over 40,” she said.
The organisers thanked all the sponsors who helped make the day a success and all the attendees who helped raise funds.
