A 37-year-old man drowned in the Mogalakwena river after apparently falling over the side of his boat.
The man, identified as Ignatius Mushai, was fishing at the time and was not wearing a life jacket. The police called in diving units from Polokwane and Modimolle to search for the man's body. It was found shortly after.
Mushai is originally from Zimbabwe, but had been living in SA for nine years. The Mahwelereng police warns that it is illegal to fish the river using home-made nets. Fishing rods are allowed and life jackets should be worn on boats.
Mushai's family thanked the Mahwelereng
police for their assistance.
