While the South African Post Office’s (SAPO) ongoing strike had a huge impact on its operations, it is pleasing to notice some signs of recovery.
SAPO has reported in a recent media statement that there has been a substantial improvement in staff attendance, which they say is commendable progress.
More employees have been reporting for duty and trucks full of mail left the mail centre to different deli-very points.
Despite many post offices in the country being closed for repairs after damages were caused by striking workers, all post offices in Limpopo are open for business. Mail messengers have also been spotted in Mokopane.
Negotiations with SAPO’s labour partners are on-going and the country is hoping for business to resume as normal within this week.
Mail delivery is still expected to be inconsistent though. This is due to a shortage of staff.
SAPO apologised to its customers for the delay.
