The Mogalakwena Municipality’s technical manager, David Malepa, responded to Northern News’ article of 21 November, “Sewage overflow raises concern,” where a visit to a sewage plant South-West of town and its overflow into the Nyl river was questioned.
Malepa admitted that the the current sewage dams are no longer up to standard.
He said they need replacing as they are leaking. Malepa furthermore denied that raw sewage is flowing from the plant. He assured Northern News that it is treated water and added that a water sample will confirm his statement.
Malepa concluded that temporary sewage dams are in place and a long term solution is pending.
