Armed robbers target Mokopane CBD

A Polokwane police task team has been established to investigate an armed robbery that occurred in the central business district (CBD) of Mokopane last Friday morning.  
The driver of a British American Tobacco panel van was caught off guard wen an armed robber overpowered him while he was making deliveries to cigarette retailers. The hijacckers threw the driver out of the van when police gave chase. The driver was not harmed.
Police, local security personnel and some neighborhood watch members tried to stop the vehicle, but to no avail. The vehicle and its load was later found abandoned on the R519 between Mookgophong and Crecy.
No arrests have been made.
