LEPHALALE - Police tracked four suspected rhino poachers for two days before stopping them in their tracks and arresting them on a game farm in the Lephalale area.
On Monday, police received a report about a suspicious looking vehicle moving around in the area and mobilised all the necessary roleplayers to track down the vehicle. Tracks were followed and with the assistance of the rangers on the farm the suspects were spotted, but they fled when they spotted the rangers.
Trackers followed their spoor for several hours until they arrested the four suspects still on the farm. During the arrests members of the Police confiscated an axe, hunting knives, a silencer, pliars and screw drivers. The hunt for more suspects is still continuing.
The four suspects were due to appear in the Lephalale Magistrates’ court on Thursday (yesterday) on the charges of trespassing as well as the conspiracy to commit rhino poaching.
