ROEDTAN - The acting deputy provincial commissioner of operational services, Major-General Nyiketani Baloyi, commended the team work shown by the local business owners and police at Roedtan following a swift arrest of two of the alleged eight robbers at a filling station on Tuesday night at about 20:00.
A group of armed men approached the filling station demanding cash. They stole an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.
However, before the suspects could flee, the garage owner managed to alert police and his neighbours.
Some shots were allegedly fired and two suspects were apprehended while the other six fled in a Silver Mercedes Benz.
Another silver Toyota Corolla allegedly driven by suspects was also confiscated.
A search for the remaining suspects is underway. The two men that were arrested will appear in the Roedtan Magistrate's court on a charge of armed robbery.
