MOKOPANE - The deputy minister of corporative governance and traditional affairs (CoGTA), Andries Nel, visited various Community Work Programme (CWP) sites in Thabaleshoba village, in the Mogalakwena Local Municipality last Wednesday.
While visiting the Early Childhood Development (ECD) - Mogalakwena Nursery Project at Ditlou Primary School, the deputy minister was accompanied by the executive mayor of Waterberg District, Tlotlanang Mogotlane, the Mogalakwena Mayor Malesela Sebatjane, the Mayor of Thabazimbi, Patricia Mosito, and local councilors.
The delegation visited the projects in the area and thereafter addressed about 1500 CWP participants benefiting from the programme and other community members. They planted trees at Ditlou Primary School and later officially opened the Thabaleshoba CWP Sewing Project.
While addressing participants, Deputy Minister Nel said, “The CWP supplements government’s social grants programme. CWP puts R1,4 billion into the pockets and onto the tables of more than 200 000 participants.”
“Over the five years of this administration, the CWP will put R5, 6 billion into the pockets of the poorest of the poor,” Nel said.
