BUSHVELD – In two separate incidents, the bodies of two people were found floating in the Palala and Mogalakwena rivers earlier this week.
On Monday afternoon, the naked body of a 44-year old woman was discovered in the Palala river in Shongoane. The dead woman was described as a mentally disabled person who was reported missing on Sunday at the Villa Nora police station. The body was found by a group of young boys playing near the river.
Warrant officer Frans Mokoena of the Lephalale police said that it has not been established whether the woman drowned or whether there is any foul play involved. He said that there was scratches on the woman’s left thigh and injuries to her left ear and eye.
Police urge anybody with information regarding this incident to contact the Villa Nora police.
On Wednesday, the body of a 55-year old man was found floating in the Mogalakwena river in Moshate. The identity of the man is unknown and police request anyone with information to please come forward and assist with the investigation. The man as wearing a red shirt and brown trousers at the time of death. Please contact 071 209 2209 if you are able to assist.
