Life in prison for Fatana's murderers

POLOKWANE - Two of the four suspects in the Gideon Fatana murder case received life in prison sentences.
Thabo Alfred Matlaila (31) and Sithole Makamu Thomas Maxane (36) was sentenced in the Polokwane High Court on Wednesday.
Their co-accused, Desmond Machaba and Charles Mogale were acquitted. Machaba,however, remains in custody for his alleged involvement in another murder case taking place about two weeks after Fatana’death. Charles Mgidi died after he was shot at a filling station in Mokopane.
The case made headlines in March 2014 when taxi owner, Gideon Fatana, was assassinated on his front porch at his house in Mokopane.
The case was originally heard in the Mokopane magistrate court and was later transferred to Polokwane.
The accused has been in custody since their arrest in April 2014. They were refused bail.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba, welcomed the sentence and congratulated the team of detectives under the leadership of Capt Boshomane whose sterling investigative work resulted in this sentence.
