Shop assistant stabbed and killed

MOKOPANE – An altercation with an alleged shoplifter at the Truworths clothing store in The Crossing Mall turned fatal after an employee of the store was stabbed and killed last Thursday.
Tshilidzi Steven Tseisi was an employee at the store and attempted to apprehend an allleged shoplifter last Thursday when the incident turned violent. After Tseisi confronted the suspect, the man allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed him.
Paramedics provided emergency medical services on the scene, but Tseisi died in the hospital on Thursday night.
Truworths expressed its condolences to Tseisi's family. “We are greatly saddened by this tragic incident and have reached out to our staff member’s family to support them during this difficult time. The safety and security of our employees and customers remains our number one priority,” said
Truworths CEO Michael Mark.
Truworths has provided trauma counse-ling to the staff who witnessed the incident.
The alleged perpetrator has been taken into custody and a police investigation is
underway with Truworths cooperating with the authorities.
