Mokopane SAPS welcomed back station commander, col. Leshoaneng Mantjane who officially took over from former station commander Patric Makhubele, now stationed at Tzaneen.

“It feels good to be back. The community knows me. I am here to serve the people of Mokopane professionally and ethically,” said Mantjane. He told Northern News he was brought back to Mokopane with the confidence that his influence will help to reduce the crime that is threatening the town. Mantjane has a strong background and he has a proven track record when it comes to combating crime.

He said he is very aware of the high crime rate and that he and his team is facing a huge challenge. He aims to deal with crime and wish to clean Mokopane for the sake of people’s safety and therefore appeal to the community and business sector to take hands with the police to accomplish this goal.

Mantjane is not new to Mokopane or to the station. After working in Roedtan and Thabazimbi, mainly as the acting cluster commander for 10 years, the Mokopane community got to know him as Vispol commander from 2011 to 2012. Mantjane then accepted the position as acting station commander for a year in 2013. In the meanwhile he was promoted to Seshego where he worked as Vispol commander and then as acting station commander.

He also welcomes the community to contact him, should they feel the need to do so. Mantjane furthermore advises residents to report crime at all times and warns them to be alert without ceasing.
