APPLICATIONS FOR POSTPONEMENT OF THE MINIMUM EMISSIONS STANDARDS FOR ESKOM’S MEDUPI AND MATIMBA COAL-FIRED POWER STATIONS
Notice is hereby given in terms of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (NEMAQA) that Eskom intends applying for postponement of the Minimum Emissions Standards for its Medupi and Matimba Coal-fired power stations in the Lephalale area of South Africa, Limpopo Province. Applications for postponement require inter alia, public participation and this advertisement serves to provide notice of such public participation.
A Background Information Document (BID) that provides an overview of the postponement application is available at www.gccl.co.za/projects Copies of the BID are also available at the Marapong Public Library and Lephalale Public Library (as detailed in the table below). You are invited to register as an Interested and Affected Party (I&AP). A period of 40 days, from 16 January to 24 February 2017, is available to review the BID and to submit comments and concerns regarding the postponement application. I&APs must please provide their comments together with their name, contact details (preferred method of notification, e.g. e-mail address or fax number) and an indication of any direct business, financial, personal or other interest which they have in the application to the contact person indicated below within the review period.
