Kgothatso Calvin Malebana (30), Mafora Morris Seleka (31), Moatome Taueyatsoala (29) and Itumeleng Komape (36) have appeared in the Mokopane Magistrate's court for stock theft after they were arrested by the Mokopane Stock Theft Unit at the end of February.
It is alleged that the suspects attended an auction held by Mokopane Vleissentraal. "Police received in formation from members of the community that two suspects were on route to sell 10 cows that did not belong to them," says Lt. Col. Moatshe Ngoepe of the Limpopo SAPS. He added that police arrived to find the suspects transporting the cattle with two bakkies and trailers.
According to the police report, the cattle had an estimated value of about R100 000.
The suspects appeared in court on 27 February. Komape and Seleka were granted bail of R2000 each, while Malebana and Taueyatsoala were denied bail. They will appear in court again tomorrow (3 March).
