A 31-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend, Florah Moatshe, from Mahlasedi village near Tom Burke, Limpopo.

The Heritage Protection Group (HPG), a non-profit organization consisting of police reservists that assist the Limpopo police in serious cases, reports that they worked with the police to interview the suspect. Moatshe's body was found in a shallow grave.

Moatshe was reported missing on 29 April following a dispute with her ex-boyfriend. “The relentless efforts of our members in investigating this case, coupled with the valuable assistance from community members, led to the subsequent arrest of the suspect.”

“The SAPS in Limpopo condemns the prevalence of incidents where missing persons, especially women, are later found murdered,” says police spokesperson Lt. Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The suspect will appear in the Lephalale Magistrate’s court on charges of murder, kidnapping and assault.
