Life in prison for murder

MAHWELERENG - Mokorong Magistrate Court has sentenced Annanius Hlongoane (40) o 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of murder on 1 August, says Mahwelereng Police spokesperson, constable Sello Leso.

Joseph Hlongoane (65) was found dead inside his home in Sekuruwe on 26 October 2015. Investigations proved that he was assaulted with a blunt object on the head by the convicted man.

This follows the conviction of Thapelo Kgosana (21) and Johannes Madiba (32) who also received life sentences for the murder of Martin Sekanka Lebelo (29) on 16 July 2016. Lebelo was waiting for his graduation at an initiation school in Mapela when the two convicted men and a juvenile (18) approached him and accused him of stock theft. He was assaulted with a knopkierie and stones and passed away on the scene.

The juvenile involved in the attach has been sentenced to a place of safety until he turns 21 years old.
