LEPHALALE - At a special Municipal Council meeting on Friday, council members who indicated that they would file a motion of no confidence in the Mayor of Lephalale, Johanna Mojela, refrained from doing so.
Says municipal spokesperson, Victor Monyepao: "the matter has been referred back to a task team chaired by municipal speaker, Rosina Boleka, to investigate the Mayor’s conduct. Council decided that it would be premature to file a motion before the task team has made its recommendations. The council has asked the team to speed up the process.” Monyepao says no time frame has been given for the report.
ANC councillor Jack Maeko told Northern News that Mojela was deployed by the ANC. “We are bound by the constitution and policies of council," he explained. "She will remain the Mayor until the ANC leadership decides otherwise.”
