Mystery corpse found in pit

LEPHALALE - The badly decomposed body of an unidentified male was found in a deep excavated hole in a field next to the Marula Mile development last Wednesday evening.
Initial reports from a security guard in the area speculated that the body was that of a female prostitute, who was allegedly raped and killed by several men, the previous Sunday. The story proved to be untrue when it was found that the victim was male and had been dead for at least three weeks.
According to warrant officer, Frans Mokoena it was not possible collect fingerprints due to the advanced stage of decomposition of the body. “This is a case for the forensics experts. All we know is that the victim is male. We urge members of the public to contact the police if they know of any missing persons or if they witnessed anything pertaining to the incident,” Mokoena said.
