On Tuesday 9 September, Chrysalis Tutor Centre’s students and parents served tea and cake to the hardworking SPCA Mokopane staff.
“We are here as part of our community service and would like to offer our help to the SPCA,” said Angelique Mostert of Chrysalis. The children were taken on a tour of the SPCA grounds and educated on what the SPCA does. The children learned how the SPCA takes care of the animals and how much they need help through sponsorships, food, and time. Some other services the SPCA provide is a ‘Doggie Spa’ where your pets can be groomed, or lodging where your pets can be booked in to be cared for while you are away. “The employees at the SPCA are grateful for any donations,” says Marcelle Maritz, chairperson of the SPCA. She thanked Chrysalis for the lovely tea and cake.
The SPCA is a community service that looks after stray animals. They need funds to keep their doors open to serve not just our town and community, but also the surrounding towns and communities that don’t have their own SPCA.
“This year the SPCA started the year with a zero bank balance,” says Maritz. “We usually received sponsorship funds from the Lotto, but this year we didn’t.” she says. “We really need all the help we can get.” She concluded.
